Because our core business is the sale of Small & Medium sized businesses, we can also price our service accordingly as we understand that smaller businesses are less complicated to value (less sites, employees, customers and products than large businesses).

Exit Planning

Unfortunately, many business owners only look to sell when they HAVE to sell – for example if they or a partner contract a serious illness or the business is going backwards due to lost interest. Of course, in that situation they are unlikely to receive a good price (and in some cases the business will not be saleable at all!).

As well, business owners need to factor in that a sale will likely take between 6 and 12 months.

To optimise the time taken and price you receive for your business it is essential to prepare for the sale beforehand (even 12 months before) and also to sell whilst it is going well and you are still happy and motivated in it.

We can help you with your preparation, by identifying the areas that can be improved and advising on how to increase your business value. This will include:

  • Increasing sales and reducing unnecessary costs
  • Formalising agreements with your suppliers and customers.
  • Tidying up your appearance? – staff, premises, website. (just like with real estate first appearances help!).
  • If the owner is open to staying with the business for another 6-12 months (for a salary), this is a significant value add for a Buyer as it reduces the risk on transition.
